What plane is above me?
Tap ✈ What's above me? on the map. Wingwait finds you, picks the aircraft highest in your sky, and tells you plainly what it is, where it's going and how long you'll see it.
What's above me? →Highest in the sky, not nearest on the map
The plane you're looking at is the one with the steepest angle above you, not the closest dot. Wingwait works out that angle from each aircraft's distance and altitude, so it names the right one.
Get pinged when something interesting flies over
Turn on Overhead alerts in Settings (top right). Wingwait will notify you when a helicopter, fast jet, military aircraft or emergency passes within about 8 km. Ordinary airliners stay quiet.
Questions
Does it work at night?
Yes. It uses the aircraft's broadcasts, not your camera, so it works in any weather, day or night.
